Surviving 24kg Kettlebell Swings after a Production Outage
How an incident changes the training decision when cognitive stress is already high.
Author: Denis Ciglarič// Read Time: 1 min
A production incident is physical stress wearing office clothes. The heart rate may be low, but decision fatigue, interrupted meals, caffeine, and hours of fixed posture still change what the evening session should look like.
The original plan
The session called for heavy swings, carries, and short intervals. After the outage, keeping the full volume would have satisfied the calendar while ignoring the actual training state.
The adjusted session
- longer nasal-breathing warm-up,
- lower total swing volume,
- no intervals that required technical work under fatigue,
- ten minutes of easy cooldown before reassessing.
The goal was to preserve movement quality and the habit of training without borrowing recovery from the next two days.
Readiness is not permission to avoid hard work. It is information for placing hard work where it can produce adaptation.
